We started Beside and Beloved because we know what it feels like.

The morning after. The bowl that's still there.

The walk you take out of habit and then remember, halfway round, that you're alone. Losing a dog is one of the most quietly devastating experiences a person can go through — and one of the most misunderstood.

People say "it was just a dog" as if that explains anything. It doesn't. You know it doesn't. What you had was a relationship built on complete trust, complete presence and complete love.

They never had a bad day with you. They never held a grudge. They were simply, entirely, yours.

And now the house is too quiet and their spot on the sofa still holds the shape of them. That kind of love deserves to be remembered fully.

We also believe in celebrating dogs while they're still here. If your dog is getting older — if you feel the time passing and want to hold it — we can create a portrait of them right now, while the light is still this particular light.

We send previews before anything prints. We use museum-quality paper and archival inks. We include the digital file with every custom portrait so you can print it again, share it, and keep it safe forever.
